Here are two Honda ST1300s that are used by the Isle of
Man police. They carry the national emblem of three legs in a circle. Many
police and ambulance services withdrew their use of the ST1300 due to a
high-speed weave that injured a number of riders. Some services just
limited the top speed that riders could go. |

BAU is a Northern Constabulary Land Rover Range Rover SE
TD6 3-litre. This big 4x4 has a big engine, but due to its 2.6 ton weight
the 177 bhp only allows a 0-60 mph time of 14 seconds, before heading on
to a top speed of 111 mph. However this is more than made up by its
excellent off road capability. |

Police. The vehicle's primary role is with the automatic number plate
recognition intercept team. The aggressive looking rally-bred car also
acts as a deterrent to would-be car thieves who think they can out run the

here in the workshops being prepared for public viewing. It carries Sussex
Police's crests and was used for six months over the summer of 2007 to
promote road safety messages. |

This large truck is fitted with rear-wheel steering to help it get around
the congested roads of the capital. Notice that it doesn't have any blue
flashing lights as the vehicle is used pro-actively and needs to drive
steadily with horses aboard. |

FHR This is a Durham Constabulary safety / speed camera
van. It is not filled with any blue lights, as it is used pro-actively.
Large camera signs can be seen on all sides and the rear window is open
with the camera and operator inside. |

illuminate a crime scene or road accident. A large telescopic pole is
erected with floodlights on top. |

VVA This is a Honda CBR 1000. It is used by Durham
Constabulary to promote safer biking, but is also used on active duty,
usually alongside a more traditional police motorbike. This rear view
shows the flashing blue led mounted under the exhaust and the 'police'
plate mounted from behind the registration. |

This is a BMW from Durham Constabulary that is only
used on the skidpan. It is an ex-front line vehicle that has had the roof
light bar removed. It has tyres that are almost bald and are pumped up to
a high pressure to help it skid on the oil/water mix. |

high visibility ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) duties. The van
carries very little livery and no 'police' signs. It is used to check the
number plate of every passing vehicle. If a vehicle of interest passes, a
team of police officers on bikes and in cars can join the road and stop
them. One such Volvo S70 can be seen flanking the van to the left. |

CGE This silver Ford Focus is a Ford demonstrator
vehicle. Here you can see the wig-wag setting on the headlamps and fog
lamps operating in conjunction with the blue lights. By flashing the main
beam on one headlamp then the other repeatedly, the vehicle can attract
attention at a much greater distance than blue lights alone. |
