with Durham Constabulary. This Transit is one of the first batch in Durham
to be decked out in battenburg markings. Fleet manager Mike Mastaglio
explains that vehicles are now being bought "out of the box" and
the manufacturers apply this livery as part of the overall package. The
motorcycle fleet introduced battenburg some time ago, but four-wheeled
vehicle had to wait until 2009. This brings the force in line with most of
the rest of the UK. |

Royal Mint truck. As the City of London Police BMW 530 stops traffic at a
junction, the two CoLP BMW X5s stay close to the front and rear of the
van. This helps stop any vehicle getting close to the van accidentally or

through the junction at speed. The second BMW X5 can just be seen behind
the blue truck. The police vary the times, days and routes of this regular

feature is the temporary addition of a yellow strip on the windscreen
saying 'cycle race'. This was one of the police vehicles used for the Tour
of Britain cycle race in September 2009. |

competing cyclists were held up! |
