03-D-46992 This is part of the Dublin Fire Brigade in Ireland. This fire engine is a Dennis Sabre and is displaying blue flashing lights as it exits the station.

JZF 270 This old Dennis / Simon Snorkel appliance has seen better days and is seen here rusting away in the corner of a yard in Klonakilty, Co. Cork.

07-KY-1713 Kery Fire & Rescue Service operate this 2007 model Mitsubishi L200. It has bright yellow and red ‘battenburg’ markings down the sides and a blue light bar on the roof of the cab.

06-D-18679 is a Ford Mondeo estate that is run by Dublin Fire Brigade as an advanced paramedic rapid response ambulance.

03-C-17032 This Ford Explorer fire car is used to tow a fire and rescue rigid inflatable boat.

01-C-11782 This Dennis Sabre appliance has a yellow and blue striped livery running down each side. It carries the fire brigade’s crest and the star of life on the cab.

83-C-2096 This Volvo water carrier is a converted milk tanker! It was built in 1983 and was still in use in 2006.

96-C-9657 is a Fiat control unit with Cork County Fire Service.

03-C-6362 is another control unit. This time it is a Mercedes Benz Sprinter which is seven years newer. Notice the retractable canopy on the side and the low-profile blue light bars on the roof and grille.

00-C-23294 This Mitsubishi Canter is liveried as an Incident Support Unit. It carries equipment to major incidents.

05-C-24311 This Toyota Hilux is a beefy-looking general purpose fire car. It is fitted with a winch and blue lights on the roof and front grille. It has a very simple livery.



The rear view of the same Hilux. Notice how the back has been left as an open pick-up and that additional blue lights are mounted behind the headrests. This is one of a number of 4×4 vehicles that were purchased by the emergency services in Ireland to continue responding to jobs in bad weather.

02-C-15202 This Scania fire appliance with bodywork by Browns is part of Cork County Fire Service’s fleet. The plate on the nearside displays this in English, and on the offside it is in Irish (Serbhis Doiteain Chontae Chorcai). It is based at Youghal fire station.
