Massey Shaw This vessel is now in preservation. It was launched in 1935 and used by the LFB until 1971. Having led an amazing life, she was involved in fighting fire in The Blitz on London during World War II as well as bringing troops back from Dunkirk. More recently, in 2002 and 2004, Suggs (from Madness) and the Salvage Squad helped restore Massey Shaw back to her former glory. She is now used for ceremonial duties and is run as an educational trust. |

Soho fire station's commemorative plaque with the appliance reflected in the background. It commemorates the firefighters that attended the Kings Cross fire disaster in 1987, in particular the station office from Soho who gave his life. To this day, a peg in the locker room is purposefully left empty with his name next to it. The plaque reads: To commemorate the valiant actions of all fire-fighters who were involved in fire-fighting and rescue operations at the Kings Cross Fire Disaster on 18 November 1987. Station Officer C J Townsley the officer in charge of Red Watch at Soho Fire Station heroically gave his life whilst attempting to rescue a serious injured member of the public. |

These electric vehicles were introduced in 2016 and feature a range-extender engine under the boot floor. This doesn't power the wheels, it just charges the batteries to double the range from around 180 miles. The car is quick around the streets of the capital with 0-60 in eight seconds and a top speed of 93. These unmarked fire vehicles carry 'SAWD' fleet numbers, standing for specialist all-wheel drive. These are two of five identical cars used for specialist operations. They would normally be deployed on high-risk tasks or when inconspicuity is called for. For example, one use could be following behind a lone gunman street attack helping to grab and run with casualties. They would be quickly placed onto a polythene sheet and dragged by firefighters in bullet proof vests to a place of safety. |
