| NOTES This North Yorkshire Police Volvo V70 T5 is used for road policing duties. It is one of a small number to be fitted with a roof-mounted infrared light (see inset). This is used in conjunction with a rear-facing ANPR camera that can read vehicles' registration plates far better than a regular camera. The Pips Technology infrared camera can read plates in heavy rain, fog, sunlight glare and headlight glare. IR is invisible to the human eye and is reflected by number plates in the same way that visible light is. |
