KX10 DJJ This Ford Transit is used by Northamptonshire FRS as a crew transportation minibus.

WA11 EOY A Ford Ranger with Truckman rear. It is operated by Devon and Somerset FRS. The writing down the side reads ‘smoke alarms and seat belts save lives’.

PN57 UHJ This Volvo FL240 is self explanatory: the wording on the side says it is a ‘Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service Driver Training’ unit.

SP09 YLW This Ford Transit is used at Edinburgh Airport by the fire service based there. Notice the absence of any blue lights, and just one small amber strobing light.

BV57 GLJ Lincolnshire operate this MAN / Ziegler appliance out of Lincoln South.

The Canal and Rivers Trust use this Orkadian 20 vessel called Yorkshire Ranger to patrol the waterways. It still carries the old branding of ‘British Waterways’.

Lincolnshire FRS use this rib for water rescue work. Four firefighters (one in the water) are rescuing a man during a demonstration exercise.

As they return to shore and the casualty is attended to, one firefighter signals the direction of travel and another operates the steering and engine from the rear.

A police Segway in use! The chunky tyres allow it to cope with grass and mud without much difficulty. The gyro-stabilised vehicle is electric powered and has a top speed of 12 mph by leaning fully forward.

C937 BKJ This ex-Nottinghamshire Dennis fire appliance is seen here stripped of most of its livery and with its blue lights covered up. After this photograph was taken it underwent a transformation into a mobile car wash vehicle.

NL02 XGO This DAF LF truck is used as a promotional vehicle by Durham officers.

The rear view to the vehicle that can be used for various policing purposes, including a mobile police office. A extendable communications antenna can be seen on the rear.

NK61 CHX A Yamaha FJR that is with Durham Constabulary. Notice the large Durham crest on the front of the bike, and the smaller crests of Durham and Cleveland on the side of the bike.

M904 KJT This Nissan D21 pick-up is the sole Coastguard vehicle on the Northern Ireland island of Rathlin.

YR61 CVL A Fiat Doblo paramedic van that is used for dedicated medical cover at Manchester Airport. It is operated by North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust in partnership with the airport.

Y868 OPV This Ford Galaxy is an ambulance responder car with a private service called Concierge Practitioners Northern Ireland.

OU55 GVN This Volvo V50 ambulance car is part of Lincolnshire Emergency Medical Response. The note on the front wing states that the car and equipment was funded by donations. The service is funded solely by donations and is run voluntarily by ex- and serving armed forces personnel.

EN61 GKC Here is an example of a rapid response ambulance car that is used by the East of England Ambulance Service. It is a Ford Mondeo that has been converted by Wilker.

MX58 UYS Here is a GMP Land Rover Discovery that is part of the Manchester Airport fleet. A separate amber beacon is mounted towards the rear of the roof. The small red squares on the bodywork indicate that this vehicle has been armoured to provide the occupants a high level of protection against explosions or other physical attack.

FL56 UNR This is a Dog Control Ford Transit Connect that is operated by ‘Community Protection’ in Nottingham. This police-style service is a collaboration between Nottingham City Council and Nottingham Police.
