LY05 KNE This large Saab truck has been converted into a horse transporter and mobile police office. It is used by the City of London Police. The rear drops down to provide a ramp for horses’ access and the front portion is an area for the riders.
N46 KWR This is a West Yorkshire Police 9-ton Iveco Truck, used by the Mounted Section.
YJ05 AHA This is another West Yorkshire Police truck used by the Mounted Section. It is a much newer Mercedes in the same livery as previous mounted police vehicles, with blue bodywork around the roof and side skirts. This 11-tonne truck also has the corporate West Yorks. yellow stripe.

OU04 FZC is a Mercedes Ateco truck specially built for Thames Valley police mounted section. This massive truck has accommodation for the horses in the rear and for the crew in the mid section. It is also equipped with powerful spotlights and equipment storage lockers.
YN53 HLE This Mercedes Benz Atego is a horse transportation truck for South Yorkshire Police’s Mounted Department. Inside is a large area for the horses, as well as a smaller area for officer briefings or tea breaks. It is in a dark blue colour, with no emergency warning equipment.
Two officers emerge from the rear on their steeds. The horses are equipped with bright yellow coats to increase their presence on the roads. The officers wear riding hats with police markings rather than the traditional Custodian helmet or peaked cap.
Here are a couple of mounted patrol officers on football duties in Portsmouth, Hampshire.
These mounted officers can get a good view in the crowds and can also use their horses to break up groups of people if required during an event in Leeds.
Here are some WYP horses training for a riot situation, with debris scattered on the ground. When on patrol, the rider and horses will be wearing high visibility clothing.

This is a Royal Air Force Police Land Rover ‘Snatch Wagon’. The vehicle is carrying desert camouflage colours with a blue light on the roof. Union Jack and RAF Police signs can also be seen. This picture was taken in Basra, Iraq in 2008.

97 KE 52 This RAF Police Land Rover was in service during the 1990s. Notice the very simple livery and only one blue flashing light, mounted on a pole because of the canvas roof.
BU53 KWX This is one of a fleet of identical Vauxhall Astra estates that are used by the Royal Air Force police. They have amber flashing lights included in the roof light bar for use on airfields.

Here we have a Ford Transit used by the RAF Police for the transport of dogs. The vehicle is unregistered and is not equipped with any blue lights. Notice how the space remains on the drivers door for the addition of the RAF insignia.
30 AY 04 This is a RAF Police Landrover Defender 110 Hardtop, FFR (Fitted For Radio). It is in service with the Tactical Provost Wing of the RAF Police, based at RAF Henlow in Bedfordshire.
18 KA 17 This RAF Police Landrover Series 3 is a 109″ long wheelbase hard top example from the early 1980s. Notice the distinctive red ‘police’ sign on the grille.
00 AF 48 This is a black RAF Police Ford Escort 1300L estate patrol car. Again from the early 1980s, it was based at RAF Odiham.
ND 49 AA This RAF Police Landrover Discovery is from the late 1990s and features a forward-facing floodlight on the roof.

JM 37 AA A RAF Police Landrover Defender 110 in Sunderland.
BX57 BEJ This is a Fiat Panda that is in service with Warwickshire Police. It is a mobile speed camera car that was converted by GRS-conversions.
SX04 FFV This Ford Transit camera van is operated by Northern Constabulary. It carries police-style blue and yellow battenburg colours but no overt ‘police’ signs.
MX57 VDC is a silver VW Transporter used by Greater Manchester Police’s “Drivesafe”. It carries the scheme’s logo on the bonnet and a small force crest on the sides.

HX54 KKF shares the same livery as the rest of Hampshire’s fleet. However this Ford Transit Connect is a Safety Camera Unit van, used by civilian staff to maintain safety (speed) cameras. There are no ‘police’ markings on it, and it is fitted with amber lights.
NK07 FHR This is a Durham Constabulary safety / speed camera van. It is not filled with any blue lights, as it is used pro-actively. Large camera signs can be seen on all sides and the rear window is open with the camera and operator inside.
