RG04 AYS This Renault Laguna was made in 2004. This is a fast response car in red instead of the more common white. It is operated by a private medical service company.

S936 KDY This was manufactured in 1998 and is an imported Mazda van. This is part of Venturers search and rescue team’s emergency response fleet.

This Volvo XC70 ambulance emergency rapid response vehicle (rrv) is on display here. These vehicles can reach higher speeds and are usually manned by a paramedic or an Emergency Care Practitioner.

EA09 UJB This is an Essex St. John Ambulance vehicle. It is an Isuzu that was produced in 2009. It is fitted with blue lights and sirens.

HX57 PNE This is part of the Red Cross Fire & Emergency Support. These vehicles can help at major fires by becoming a temporary home for displaced residents. They carry everyday essential supplies such as toothbrushes, clothing and food and are manned by trained volunteers of the British Red Cross.

WU59 WWK This Mitsubishi is operated by MedRoc and is crewed by medics, people who have any type of emergency medical aid qualification. This pro-active vehicle is equipped with blue flashing lights that can be seen operating in the photo.

ROT 743M Yorkshire Rose Ambulance Service have this 1973 Range Rover. It is fitted with a blue flashing beacon on the roof that can be extended upwards. It is fitted with a range of further blue flashing lights around the bodywork and two tone horns are mounted on the roof too.

N136 LEG A Ford Maverick operated by Event EMS. This is the first vehicle owned by the Darlington-based company that covers motorcross and equestrian events.

L930 RWU Another Ford Maverick operated by Event EMS. It is the second vehicle owned by the company and is shown here with a temporary combined lightbar/siren unit on the roof until a permanent light bar is fitted.

R49 DDV This is a Vauxhall Frontera that is marked as an ambulance and is used for blue light driver training by Roadcraft Driver Training Ltd.

YN07 GFZ This Yorkshire-registered Vauxhall Combo is used by London Ambulance Service for community resuscitation training.

MV53 HPU This is a British Red Cross Land Rover ambulance. It carries a red and yellow colour scheme and two bars of lights on the roof.

LK10 BWP This is a privately operated High Dependency Unit. It is used to transport patients between hospitals on behalf of the NHS. They are slightly taller than other ambulances making it easier for medics to move around in the rear.

RX03 WKY This Mercedes Vito is part of the Patient Transport Services for the North East Ambulance Service. Their staff do not respond to emergencies but are trained in basic first aid.

WN04 ZZH This St John Ambulance from Avon HQ is on an Emergency Call at night. It has big tyres fit for most terrain encountered.

OU07 AAF This St. John Ambulance Nissan Pathfinder is one of the 2007 editions to St. John’s. It is dealing with calls in winter conditions that are no problem for this 4×4 vehicle.

V710 HLH This silver Ford Focus is with the PHS ambulance service in Wales.

L402 SKV This VW Transporter is one of St. John Ambulance’s Command Units. In the command units are desks for the Silver Officer (On Scene Command) and the Radio Control. More modern vehicles have satellite dishes and aerials on top.

ND08 SVC This Mazda is one of Medroc’s Cars. The company supplies medical professionals to large events. This is a Rapid Response unit fitted with blues & twos ready to go on a call.

SY10 XZU This is a Ford Fiesta used by the Scottish Ambulance Service based in Fort William. It’s a five gear manual and front wheel drive.

OU04 HHV This is a Nissan Patrol operated by the South Western Ambulance Service. Notice the additional height to the roof which allows medics to move around easier in the back.

WX59 JCD This Iveco is an ambulance command vehicle with Great Western.

WX10 AUP This Iveco is used by the Great Western Ambulance Service as an Incident Response Unit. It is assigned fleet number GW01.

WN06 JJF This is a St. John Ambulance Nissan Navara with G-BATC air ambulance in flight in the background. The car has its blue lights flashing which is normal protocol to help the pilot spot the vehicle from a distance away and land near by.

N999 MED This Renault S100 truck is used as a mobile intensive care unit in support of the British Touring Car Championship. It is fitted with blue lights all round but is stationery during the race weekend.

PK09 HNU This Skoda Octavia is use for rapid response work in Liverpool by the North West Ambulance Service.

RJ10 EXE This Land Rover Discovery is used by Location Medical Services for privately funded emergency medical cover.

Location Medical Services operate this unregistered golf kart. It has two seats alongside a full-size stretcher. It is decked out in ambulance colours and is fitted with a blue flashing light on the roof as well as two small lights at the top of the windscreen.

K999 LMS This Toyota Land Cruiser Colorado is used by Location Medical Services Ltd who are based at the Shepperton TV Studios in Middlesex.

Y241 ODC This large yellow truck is an Iveco-Ford New Cargo which is an incident support unit for Yorkshire Ambulance Service. It carries trolleys of medical equipment for use at the scene of a major incident. The truck is fitted with blue flashing lights all round and a siren is mounted on the roof of the cab. It is seen here overshadowing YJ57 XMY, a Vauxhall Zafira ambulance car.

BX08 JGO This is a private Renault Master ambulance operated by AST Ambulance Service.

V411 BNV A St. John Ambulance LDV Convoy. This long-wheel base model is used for non-emergency personnel transportation.

112-DMN This is a Mercedes Benz Sprinter converted to an ambulance by UV Modular. The vehicle is used by the Isle of Man Ambulance And Paramedic Services. Notice the registration plate contains 112, the European emergency number. The Manx government issue registration plates and often allocate plates containing 999 to the emergency services.

V729 ECH This is a Volvo V70 that is marked up as a paramedic car and is operated by APMS (Ailsworth Practice Medical Services) in Peterborough.

N865 MWT This 1996 Ford Transit is used as a command and control unit by St. John. It is part of the North Yorkshire and Teesside fleet.

RJ10 AKG This is a Honda CR-V which is in demonstration livery but is seen here being used by St. John Ambulance.

L294 RBD is a St. John Ambulance Land Rover Defender 110. It is a 1994 2.5 TDI model which was still in use when this photograph was taken in 2010.

SH56 ZYL The Scottish Ambulance Service uses this Ford Focus Zetec 2.0 TDCI estate for rapid response work. Notice how the blue LED on the wing has a blue lens whereas the ones on the grille have clear lenses.

This Renault Master ambulance is operated by Bristol Ambulance EMS, a provider of independent ambulance services since the early 1970s. This blue light vehicle has a white and green colour scheme and is liveried as a newborn emergency stabilisation transfer team vehicle.

VX58 KTK This Vauxhall Zafira is used by Great Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust for rapid response work. It is decked out in full height battenburg and has a clear light bar on the roof.

V920 MWT This Vauxhall Astra was new in 1999 and is seen here decked out in ambulance colours for use by Yormed. The car doesn’t have any blue lights fitted. On the bonnet is a temporary advert for a local newspaper “Life Savers” campaign.

YJ04 YSZ This is a Mercedes Benz Vito that is used by Yorkshire Ambulance Service as an ambulance and support vehicle. It is usually deployed proactively at large events. It has a Vector-type light bar on the roof.

NK52 KYY A silver Land Rover Discovery built by Land Rover Special Vehicles. It is used as an Event Support Unit by Medics UK. It is not fitted with any visual warning equipment.

DU09 ZZY This is a Vauxhall Vectra estate that is used by a company called EMS in Country Durham. It is labelled as a medical response car and is fitted with a full-width blue light bar.

NX58 BNN This white Land Rover has been fitted with a snowplough to help keep roads passable for all emergency services during the winter. It carries a simple NHS livery and amber flashing lights.

SO08 NKM This VW Transporter has been converted into an ambulance by UV Modular and is used by the Scottish Ambulance Service. Notice the single wide band of battenburg markings down the side.

CX07 DVK This is a Mercedes Sprinter ambulance conversion by UV Modular for the Welsh Ambulance Services.
