AFS 6 This is Heathrow’s Rosenbaur appliance, converted by Angloco. It is Crash Tender 3 at the airport and was new in 2012.

SP09 YLW This Ford Transit is used at Edinburgh Airport by the fire service based there. Notice the absence of any blue lights, and just one small amber strobing light.

R223 SDA This is a silver Vauxhall Vectra that is used for fire cover at York Gliding Centre, Rufforth.

K999 RRV This is a GMC that is used by Helicopter and Aviation Services. It carries a personalised registration and blue and amber flashing lights.

B551 RLP This is a custom-made Boughton fire and rescue appliance used at Tresco Heliport. It has a foam monitor on the roof and very high-profile tyres.

The front view. Notice how the headlights have been moved to the bumper and their previous location replaced with blue flashing lights.

The rear view. In three corners of the roof are blue rotating beacons, and in one an amber beacon.

M132 SCY and WK10 AFZ are the two fire appliances used at St. Mary’s Airport. The fire engine is a yellow Carmichael / Mercedes Benz 1124AF. The red car is Toyota Hilux.

SY58 CEU The Scottish Highland and Islands Airports Fire Service operate this Carmichael / Land Rover at Barra Airport. It has had the body extended to accommodate equipment lockers and ladders, meaning the addition of a second rear axle. The reason for having this unusual vehicle is because the main runway is a tidal beach. A heavier vehicle would struggle to drive on the sand.

SY52 EGU Also at Barra Airport is this support Land Rover which is fitted with amber and blue warning lights on the roof.

SY04 ZRX This dark red Land Rover Defender is used at Benbecula Airport, on the Isle of Benbecula in the Scottish Highlands. It is operated by the Highlands and Islands Airport FRS, which cover 11 small airports.
