V70 LVO This is a Volvo V70 Auto that was manufactured in 2002. This is used by Cheshire Fire & Rescue service and is part of the ATACC – Anaesthesia, Trauma and Critical Care – team.



This is a front view of the vehicle displaying the FIRE markings and the unusual storage container on the top. A Volvo with the same registration used to be liveried as a Doctor car with ATACC.

NX05 FVA This Land Rover Defender has been extended to carry equipment for its role as a Water Rescue Unit with Cleveland Fire Brigade.

A key asset to the rescue unit is this Valiant rigid inflatable boat with Mercury engine. It carries blue flashing lights and is called Wrighty.

Merseyside fast response fire bikes are shown here alongside a regular fire motorbike. The fast response bikes are used to put out small fires without the need for an appliance to attend. They work in pairs and the rider has specially designed clothes that are suitable for riding the motorbike and fire fighting. Water or foam is directed at the fire from lances just visible on the rear.

It has blue lights on the roof and front grille and chunky wheels for off-road calls. In this photograph it is towing a trailer that was carrying an old car for firefighters to practice extrications.

MX06 YBY In this demonstration, a fire service DIM vehicle (Detection, Identification and Monitoring) forms the backdrop of a decontamination scene. Two ambulance medics are in full protective suits and are looking over a casualty found next to an unknown substance.

This in an unmanned aerial vehicle used by the fire service. It has four motorised propellers that keep the very light unit in flight. The ring around the edge is optional and helps avoid damage if it has a slight brush with a building. It can hover using GPS to correct it’s position and can be fitted with a range of different cameras.



The unit in flight. Being less than a metre across, it is visually and audibly unobtrusive in the sky and can difficult to spot. This demonstration model is operated by MRL Limited and is called the MRL Eye.

This is a concept fire vehicle that is based on an Iveco. It is produced by Chameleon and is used for fire response work in hostile environments. The cab is surrounded by a strong cage structure with a red and blue flashing light on top. The rear tips and the fold-down sides have battenburg markings on both sides.



A close up of what you would expect to be a water monitor on the roof. It is in fact a 7.62mm General Purpose Machine Gun! The vehicle has the capability for this gun to be mounted and used, but use in the UK is very unlikely.
