Ireland. Blood Bike Leinster is a Charity set up to transport blood products
for the hospitials in the Leinster area free of charge.

02-D-56512 Dublin Civil Defence operate this Iveco as an emergency ambulance.
91-D-48541 This Land Rover is used By Dublin Civil Defence as a Fire and Flood Response vehicle as part of the Auxillary Fire Service. This is one of several 4×4 response vehicles in use with DCD. They are called upon during severe weather or as requested by Dublin Fire Brigade, HSE or the Gardaí for assistance. Most carry portable pumps, sand bags and suction in the rear, some are kitted out as ambulance vehicles. The one pictured can do both.
95-D-53826 This ex-UK 1995 Carmichael / Rapier ex-front line fire truck is used by Dublin Civil Defence. It is now on the run with Clondalkin Auxiliary Fire Service in South Dublin. As of 2012 it is among the newest of tenders in the DCD Fleet.
03-D-46992 This is part of the Dublin Fire Brigade in Ireland. This fire engine is a Dennis Sabre and is displaying blue flashing lights as it exits the station.

06-D-81803 is an example of a mark III Ford Mondeo Garda traffic car. It is fitted with a roof-mounted light bar with four LEDs to the front and rear, as well as additional blue lights on the front wings and alternate flashing headlamps.
Here is a photograph of a Garda Opel Vectra from around 1990. It carries the livery of the day, a single blue stripe and simple wording.
This is “Alpha Sierra Two”, one of the two aircraft used by the Garda. It is based in Dublin and is accompanied by a fixed wing plane. It is a Eurocopter EC135 and was delivered at the end of 2002.

This old Garda car is a Renault 4. It shows the old livery of Garda cars, which were light blue in colour, had wording ands the badge on the doors and had one blue flashing light.
96-D-42366 This is an example of a 1996 Garda Land Rover Defender.
This Nissan Terrano is also used by the Garda for on and off road use. It is a 2004 model and is used as a dog unit.
Here is a Garda 2005 Ford Fiesta. Look how the stripe up the side seems to be at an angle due to the car’s high waistline. It is used for community policing duties.
02-D-77071 Here is a Ford Transit that is used for public order in Dublin city. The shield can be lowered down over the windscreen to protect the police from flying projectiles.

06-D-4327 This is a Garda checkpoint set up using a 2006 Ford Galaxy. In the back you can see the wooden racking that houses traffic policing equipment, including a range of collapsible signs and freestanding flashing beacons.

02-D-72495 The Garda in Cork City operate this Ford Mondeo estate. It is equipped with blue lights which are attached to the roof rails. It is used by the Traffic Corps for road policing duties.

07-KY-1713 Kery Fire & Rescue Service operate this 2007 model Mitsubishi L200. It has bright yellow and red ‘battenburg’ markings down the sides and a blue light bar on the roof of the cab.

01-C-11782 This Dennis Sabre appliance has a yellow and blue striped livery running down each side. It carries the fire brigade’s crest and the star of life on the cab.

83-C-2096 This Volvo water carrier is a converted milk tanker! It was built in 1983 and was still in use in 2006.
96-C-9657 is a Fiat control unit with Cork County Fire Service.
03-C-6362 is another control unit. This time it is a Mercedes Benz Sprinter which is seven years newer. Notice the retractable canopy on the side and the low-profile blue light bars on the roof and grille.
00-C-23294 This Mitsubishi Canter is liveried as an Incident Support Unit. It carries equipment to major incidents.
05-C-24311 This Toyota Hilux is a beefy-looking general purpose fire car. It is fitted with a winch and blue lights on the roof and front grille. It has a very simple livery.
The rear view of the same Hilux. Notice how the back has been left as an open pick-up and that additional blue lights are mounted behind the headrests. This is one of a number of 4×4 vehicles that were purchased by the emergency services in Ireland to continue responding to jobs in bad weather.
02-C-15202 This Scania fire appliance with bodywork by Browns is part of Cork County Fire Service’s fleet. The plate on the nearside displays this in English, and on the offside it is in Irish (Serbhis Doiteain Chontae Chorcai). It is based at Youghal fire station.
This 1990 Ford Transit is used as a Hazmat (hazardous material) unit with Dublin’s Airport Fire Service.
98-C-19882 This Toyota is used for fire duties at Cork Airport. It has a split amber/blue light bar as well as loudhailers and a rear-facing information matrix. Also notice the winch on the front.
111 SZK This old fire appliance was supplied by the Ireland-based Timoney company. You can see that the bright paintwork has faded on the front of the appliance and the blue and amber lights are sparser than modern equivalents.
93-C-6156 This airport carsh tender is a more modern Timoney vehicle. As it drives past an aircraft, you can see the roof-mounted water / foam monitor. A smaller monitor is mounted on the front of the cab. You can see that some short extension ladders are mounted on the side of the vehicle, and the lid on the exhaust (on the roof) has lifted up with the power of the engine.
81-C1688 This airport fire engine is a Javelin. Despite its age, it was still operational in 2006. These vehicles typically travel very few miles in their lives.
87-C-9610 This massive orange fire appliance created by Timoney is the third of five appliances that are with the Airport Police Fire Service at Cork. Notice how the four front wheels steer the twin-engined vehicle.
91-D-26653 Dublin Civil Defence operate this Leyland incident command unit. This vehicle is one of two incident command units (the other being 89-D-1) that each cover half of Dublin City, divided by the River Liffey. They are both ex-city council vehicles and were used as mobile libraries in their previous life. They are equipped with Communications, meeting facilities, TV and video downlink from a police helicopter can be displayed on a screen inside.
98-D-78544 Dublin Civil Defence also operate this Ford Iveco Cargo truck that is used for equipment transportation. Notice that is has amber flashing lights fitted and is able to easily drive over the snowy ground.
This vehicle is an ex-RAF truck, it originally came with a snow plough attached to the front, which was removed as it wasn’t deemed necessary for this unit, which was primarily for urban search, and all terrain rescue. As it was used by the RAF on airfields it has amber beacons, these have since been replaced by blue beacons.
84-D-7153 This 1984 Dennis fire engine is getting a second lease of life with Dublin Civil Defence.

08-MO-1228 This Ford Transit has been converted into a Mayo Civil Defence Communications Unit. Notice the crest on the front door and extending canopy on the side of the roof.
05-D-27262 This black Toyota Land Cruiser is used by Mayo’s Civil Defence team for non-emergency transportation.
05-D-26867 This Toyota 4×4 is used as an Operation Support Unit by the Civil Defence.
06-D-56584 The Civil Defence operate this Dublin-registered VW Transporter ambulance.
302 RZO is a Dodge fire / salvage vehicle. The roof-mounted ladders have been removed and two of the blue flashing lights have been removed from the front.
95-D-41827 This is a Nissan 4×4 King Cab that is used for search and rescue work by the Civil Defence. It is equipped with a rooftop floodlight and blue lights, as well as a winch surrounded by bull bars.
NZS 302 This Land Rover 130 allows equipment to be carried inside as well as on the roof. The spare tyre is absent (which improved rear visibility) and it has a single rotating blue light at the front of the roof.
87-C-14529 This Dennis Civil Defence fire & rescue response unit is an ex-UK appliance. It carries some equipment but is primarily used as a control unit. Notice that it also carries the ‘star of life’ symbol behind the cab which is normally used on ambulances.
98-D-69482 The Civil Defence also operate ambulances. This is a Ford Transit conversion which is used for secondary response work. On the roof are two large blue flashing lights and twin air horns.
A Civil Defence rigid inflatable boat. This can be towed to a lake or river by a semi-marked Land Rover Defender. Notice the blue light bar that can be used to attract the attention of mariners.
90-C-14592 is a Dennis fire appliance which is operated by the Civil Defence. It is decked out in the usual yellow paint scheme of the Civil Defence with the crest on the front doors. Their motto ‘when it counts we’re there’ is written very small below it.
04-C-21647 This is an Irish Red Cross ambulance based in County Cork in the South of the Republic.

09-WD-497 This 2009 Fiat Panda ambulance car is operated by the Order of Malta, Ireland.
08-OY-3075 This Offaly-registered HSE Ford Mondeo is used as a rapid response car.
This 2007 VW Crafter ambulance is used by Medical Ambulance Service. You can see the ‘police style’ blue and white checkers down the side and the red line forming a heartbeat pattern.
06-KE-11136 This is an Irish rapid response car in the form of a Hyundai Santa Fe. It was converted to an ambulance by Wilker and operates out of Limerick City.
05-LK-3434 Another vehicle of the Irish HSE National Ambulance Service is this Mercedes Benz Sprinter 416 CDI conversion by Wilker. It also operated out of Limerick City station.
01-C-15593 This is a St. John Ambulance Crusader spotted in Cork city centre. It has the same livery as its UK equivalents.
00-LK-5361 This Peugeot 406 estate is an example of a rapid response vehicle used in Limerick. In the background is a traditional Ford Transit-based ambulance.
