This Mercedes Benz C63 AMG estate is used in Formula One races around the world as the medical car. It is driven by driven by Dr Jacques Tropenat and also carries FIA’s chief medical delegate, Dr Gary Hartstein and medical equipment. The 6.3-litre V8 car has been described as the fastest ambulance on the planet and Mercedes have improved it over the road-going version. It is seen here on a demonstration run with two photographers hanging out of it.

NV09 CCD This VW Crafter is used by the Highways Agency to provide extra equipment at road collisions or other major incidents.



The rear view, showing a major asset of this vehicle: a large variable message matrix sign that folds up from the roof. Notice how the chevron markings on the rear continue down both sides of the van to make it’s overall high visibility livery.

This VW Caddy is used as a bee response unit by an organisation called the Bee Operational Guidance United Society. This newly united society responds to swarms of bees to protect the public and to protect the bees as they are in decline. Manned by two beekeepers, the van is fitted with a personalised registration plate which reads “buzz off”. An appropriate black and yellow colourscheme has been adopted.

The VW is fitted with blue flashing lights after a special dispensation was allowed as the team often travel long distances across the country chasing bees.





The rear view, including one of the crew. Both crew members wear the suits at all times, including when in the vehicle. In the rear is emergency bee equipment including more protective suits, warning signs and honey pots.

In the official press release, chairwoman April Fursed said “Since we were endorsed by the Queen and Sting, we’ve been buzzing. Before getting this van, workers were bumbling along responding on the fly. We’ve now hived together enough funds to take the sting out of buying it.”.

This golf kart has been adapted to be used by doctors supporting …



This golf kart has been adapted to be used by doctors supporting the British Touring Car Championship races around the UK. It has a BTCC badge on the front and a green strobing beacon on the roof. It is only used to drive around the paddock, not on public roads, and therefore in unregistered, carrying “doctor” signs in place of registration plates.

EU04 MAA is a Ford Galaxy from the first batch …



EU04 MAA is a Ford Galaxy from the first batch batch of marked cars used by VOSA. It has yellow and black battenburg side markings, yellow and orange chevrons at the rear and a roof bar with amber lights & variable matrix signing.



The front view, as you may see in your rear-view mirror when the inspectors wish to stop you. There are amber repeaters on the grille and a clear ‘VOSA’ sign on the high-visibility yellow bonnet. It has a white tax disc that grants the vehicle exemption from vehicle excise duty.



The rear and roof aspect. The long variable message matrix sign can be seen on the amber lightbar. Also the wording ‘enforcement control’ is written on the roof.



Inside the back of the Galaxy is a small amount of equipment, including temporary road and information signs. There is a very small rear-facing camera at the top left. An identical camera faces forwards on the dashboard. These cameras record whenever the vehicle is in use and have been used for prosecutions.

P737 WGG is a Mercedes Benz Sprinter van that is used by Trossachs SAR team in Scotland. It was donated by Strathclyde Fire & Rescue after being removed from front line services with them. It can carry up to eight search and rescue dogs and is used at incidents across Strathcylde and at major incidents anywhere in Scotland.

NK03 AXJis an Iveco van used as a mobile control unit by the Teesdale and Weardale Search and Rescue Team. The side door provides access to the control area where there is room for two controllers and five personnel. Additionally, the awning can be extend to provide a weatherproof tem briefing room or to provide multi casualty care.



The rear of the van is used for storage of equipment an is separate to the control area. It hold a variety of medical, climbing ,search and rescue equipment as well as a generator for power and a compressor to extend the vehicles communication mast which is fitted to the right hand side of the van.

R496 MKO This Iveco Daily is also used by Sebev. It is an Incident Control Unit which is fitted with a hydraulic mast, internal control area with radios and computer mapping system. The rear compartment holds rescue equipment including fire extinguishers, medical equipment, life jackets, generator, cones and more. It is liveried in red and yellow battenburg markings.
