YJ59 OPG This blue Land Rover Defender is operated by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service. It carries a simple stripe of battenburg down the sides and a yellow bonnet. Blue flashing LED lights are fitted to the grille and a small blue beacon is on the roof.

LX11 AFE This Volvo XC70 is a 4×4 rapid response car that was new to London Ambulance Service in summer 2011. Notice the four flashing lights fitted into the grille.

LJ04 YLX is a Vauxhall Movano that is used by London Ambulance as a Tender Vehicle. It is fitted with blue lights, carries a basic LAS livery and ius used to transport equipment.

D655 DRP This is a 1987 Leyland Redline bus that has been converted into a mobile treatment centre for St. John. It has the same livery as the Crusader ambulances and has two blue light bars on the roof. It was still operational in 2011.

Nina Mackay II is a launch used by the Met police on the River Thames. It carries blue and yellow battenburg markings and is assigned code MP7. Nina Mackay was a Met police officer that was killed by someone she was trying to arrest in 1997.
In this shot a brown and a white police horse make their way onto Whitehall in central London against the flow of traffic. The officers wear riding hats with police logos and use whistles to attract attention.
ND10 AAV Darlington Motor Club operates this rescue ambulance for track-side emergency medial assistance work.

OEB 580H This is a Ford Lotus Cortina police car. It is a high performance car that was collaboratively made by Ford and Lotus in the 1960s.

VUO 719J This is a 1971 Triumph 2000 police car that saw service with Exeter City Police.

Here are four police outriders riding BMW R1150RS motorbikes. They are all party of the Special Escort Group (SEG) whose primary role is to escort vehicles in the London area. The bikes are minimally marked and they rarely use sirens.

This Yamaha bike is used by the BTP in London to respond to incidents on the Underground and street-level stations and lines.
This is a North Yorkshire police car carrying out a stop and search. The car is a BMW 5-series used by the roads policing group.
OU09 HBY This is a 2009 Mitsubishi L200 4WD used by Thames Valley Police.
YJ60 EWY This Vauxhall Corsa was manufactured in 2010 and is used for community policing by PCSOs and police officers in West Yorkshire.

LM57 JBY This is one of the City of London’s police cars. It is a Ford Mondeo and carries battenburg markings on the upper part of the bodywork only.

LX10 CME This Skoda is used by CoLP as a dog handler unit. They can be called out to normal calls or calls where the dog is required to sniff a scent or to catch someone.

This is one of CoLP’s police motorbikes. They are ideal in cities to get to emergency calls faster. The luminous yellow colour of this bike makes it much more visible in traffic.
BU60 BKV This is a Mitsubishi Shogun that is with the Met Police and used in conjunction with Transport for London. It has a powerful engine and is good for on and off road use.

LX59 CVC This is a 2009 Chevrolet which the BTP use for general duties, but with the option of using it off road.

In this set of images we can see some of the vehicles used for a major MR incident. A walker on Ben Nevis has been reported missing for nearly two days. The 20-year old man was ill-equipped for walking the hill and was last seen at 3,300 feet wearing jeans and a jacket.
All of the vehicles shown in this line up are RAF mountain rescue from Kinloss and Valley. Around 50 people were involved in the search that was hampered by darkness and severe weather.

Royal Navy helicopter RESCUE 177 is also involved with a couple of Northern Police dog handlers. SARDA Scotland were already at work up the hill.
The helicopter circles with the door open as the winchman and winch operator scour the landscape for the walker. Unfortunately, six days after the walker disappeared, his body was found.
GR56 ROB This is a Toyota Hilux that is used by Glencoe MRT. It has two blue light bars on the roof along with a roof box and a floodlight. “Rescue” wording and a winch can be seen on the front.

In an unusual location is this Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Land Rover. It is parked outside the Houses of Parliament in central London with a search and rescue dog on the bonnet. A wheeled stretcher can be seen on the roof rack.
DY58 XDJ Yorkshire Ambulance Service has this turbo diesel Vauxhall Combo van for a Community First Responder Team vehicle.
HT05 HDD This Ford Fiesta is used by Fareham community responders in Hampshire. They are part of South Central Ambulance Service, but are funded by the community through charitable donations. The vehicle was bought from Hayling Island community responders and re-liveried.

WX10 HXO A Mercedes Sprinter ambulance. This is one of a fleet of vehicles introduced in 2010-11 that were to replace ageing vehicles in Cornwall. This ambulance is operated by the South Western Ambulance Service and seen here at Helston Ambulance Station.
MX04 FVW This Ex-Northwest Ambulance vehicle is now operated by AM Medical Services (South) Ltd., a private service who work in the Wiltshire and Gloucestershire areas.
This Motorcycle is used by Severn Ambulance and Medical Services (SAMS), a volunteer group who operate in the West Country. Its call sign is SA004, SAMS often undertake medical cover in hard to reach places so this bike is ideal for this purpose.
KX10 BHK This Mitsubishi L200 is a fire car with Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service. Notice the bespoke roof structure, which includes folding floodlights.
VX51 VXE This Mercedes Sprinter Mobile Police Station is in current service with the Gloucestershire Constabulary. It is used to visit the small towns and villages in the rural areas of Gloucestershire and is mainly operated by PCSOs. It is seen here alongside a police Land Rover.
VX04 KCU A Gloucestershire Land Rover Defender, complete with a simple red stripe livery.
YK06 UOW This dark green Land Rover Defender is used for the Farm Watch scheme by West Yorkshire Police. It I supported by Ripon Farm Services Ltd. Notice the small LED light fitted above the bumper.
H6 SCO This white Land Rover Defender is used for the Farmwatch scheme by West Yorkshire Police. It carries a private registration plate and shows sponsorship by Hesco Bastion. The scheme is a partnership between the farmers and police to encourage vigilance and communication.
YJ10 ABF This Iveco van is used as a video van by West Yorkshire.
YJ59 LBK is a BMW R1200RT that is used by North Yorkshire Police. It has reflective yellow decals over its silver bodywork. A small force crest can be seen on the rear.

RV07 TDU and RV07 SZT Here are two Fiat Doblos that are used by the Blue Cross animal charity.

RF07 NKX This Fait Ducato is used by the Blue Cross as an animal ambulance. Notice the air conditioning unit on the roof.

BUF 792L This Land Rover is privately owned and is decked out in military bomb disposal colours. The red wings indicate this. It is also fitted with blues light on the roof, one behind the grille and two front-facing red lamps. It is one of a number of similar Land Rovers that can be seen at Coalhouse Fort in Essex.
This fun pedal-powered kart was made by GCSE students at Ringwood School and was to allow Hampshire Police to enter the British Pedal Car Grand Prix in July 2010. It is driven and partially built by PC Keith Waller and follows closely Hampshire’s standard livery. The top speed is 20 mph.
DX09 MDF and VX08 HVY Here are a pair of Highways Agency Land Rovers that are awaiting the start of their shift in West Yorkshire.

N1 BTP This is a British Transport Police major incident vehicle. It is a Renault truck and is unusual in having a personalised registration mark.

LG09 KZN and LG09 KZO are a pair of DAF LF trucks that are used by Interserve Special Event Services to support the Metropolitan Police.
LX54 CLN The police driver of this Met Police Mercedes Sprinter takes a snooze on a dark winter’s evening.
FJ10 XYS Lincolnshire Police took on this John Deere 6630 tractor in 2010 for publicity purposes in rural areas. It carries the standard livery and has blue light on the roof.

HX58 FVD This BMW X5 was a 2008 addition to Hampshire’s fleet.
T801 BRP This Jaguar S-Type is a privately owned preserved police vehicle. To comply with the road vehicle lighting regulations, the blue light bar is covered up and the car is clearly marked as being “not in service”.
OV02 YKH This Vauxhall Omega saw service with Thames Valley police before being retired into preservation.
